The PNOWWA project has following work package structure:
Coordinating of the PNOWWA is managed by the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
Coordinator | Ari-Matti Harri, FMI | Head of the Space and Radar Technology Research division at the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) with a wide range of experience in the field of satellite and space technology, remote observations and weather radar applications. |
WP 1 | Haukka | Research Scientist, Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI), Radar and Space Technology Group since 2009. Served in the project management and engineering duties in several projects at FMI. |
WP 2 | Saltikoff | Dr Saltikoff serves as research scientist at Meteorological Research unit of FMI. She started her career at FMI as aviation forecaster. Since 1996 she has worked with research and development related to weather radars. |
WP 3 | Hagen | Dr. Martin Hagen is the leader of the radar team at the DLR Institute of Atmospheric Physics. He has more than 25 years of experience in the operation and development of the polarimetric C-band Doppler radar POLDIRAD. |
WP 4 | Kaltenboeck | Since 1999 Dr. Kaltenboeck was an operational forecaster at the Vienna international airport within Austro Control, the air service provider in Austria. Since 2007 RK is in the position of a senior expert for Nowcasting and Weather Radar and since 2009 he is the chair of the Austrian radar meteorology working group. |
WP 5 | Juntti | Juntti serves as head of Aviation and Military Weather Service for Northern Finland of FMI. Juntti has long experience about the needs of weather services among aeronautical customers in Finland and abroad. He has wide view the state of aeronautical weather service issues around world, because he has participated WMO expert and management groups. |
WP 6 | Pümpel | Head of Strategy, Austro Control, MET Department. Dr Herbert Puempel is an expert in aeronautical meteorology and currently member of the ICAO CAEP Science and Impacts group |
WP 7 | Gerz | Dr. Thomas Gerz is heading the Department of Transportation Meteorology at the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IPA) at DLR. He works at DLR as a scientist and research manager. Dr. Gerz is experienced in coordinating national and international research projects on aircraft wake vortices and weather & aviation. |
