Scientific objective A-3: atmospheric vertical structure

The MetNet probes will measure their 3-axis accelerations as well as pressure and temperature during entry, descent and landing and hence provide additional sets of in situ and high spatial (vertical and horizontal) resolution vertical profiles of the atmospheric pressure, temperature, density and possibly also H2O. The orbiting atmospheric sounder will in turn provide a coarser resolution but more continuous and longer-term data on the atmospheric vertical structure.
